Block Solutions to provide Wireless LAN expertise to leading NHS Foundation Trust
LONDON, UK, 14th November 2006
Block Solutions has announced it has won a contract to provide Wireless LAN expertise to Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Block Solutions, a UK based Cisco Premier Partner with Advanced Specialisations in Wireless and Security technologies, announced today that they have been engaged as expert advisers during the design and delivery of a new Wireless LAN infrastructure for Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust .
Guy's and St Thomas' (GSTT) is one of the largest and busiest hospital Trusts in the country, with over 9,000 staff servicing more than 750,000 patient contacts a year. They first engaged Block Solutions in February 2006, to deliver a comprehensive network infrastructure refresh.
It is partly as a result of the success of this ongoing project that Block has again been selected by GSTT to deliver expert consulting on the Wireless project. “The network that has been implemented by Block [as part of the infrastructure refresh engagement] provides a reliable foundation on which the Trust can confidently deploy new applications in line with their IT strategy,” remarked Alistair Shearin, Director of IT&T for GSTT. “During the course of the deployment Block has kept excellent control of all aspects of the project, in particular managing cost, communication and project interdependencies within the Trust.”
As part of the WLAN engagement, Block will help to design and deliver a WLAN incorporating over 1,000 access points, supporting RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) asset tracking and Vocera (voice over WLAN) requirements.
